What to do with 17 acres of bog

Hello, I am looking for innovative ideas for how to preserve yet make productive 17 acres of bog near Millstreet, County Cork. It has been largely untouched for the past 30 years and is currently being invaded, if that is the right word, by furze, birch, ash and sallies. Thanks in advance for your ideas.
