How do I manage bineweed in a nature friendly way?

This query recently came into us so I am putting it up here for the farmer: "I bought 19 acres of land about 5 years ago and have been busy digging ponds, planting orchards, expanding hedgerows etc.   However I am in battle with bineweed.  It is attacking all of the above areas and has pretty much covered over all.  Does anyone have any nature friendly ways of tackling it?
