Just outside Gorey, Alan and Cheryl Poole farm 42 hectares in derogation while protecting nature and water. Over 20% of their land is managed for biodiversity, and the River Bann running alongside is classified Blue Dot, meaning the water is in pristine condition.

Their 72-cow dairy herd is high-performing and efficient, with careful slurry application and nitrogen-efficient practices, while wildlife measures include hedgerows, wildlife margins, and bird boxes.
