Janet and Jenny began farming together in 2016 on a 3-acre organic hillside farm. Inspired by mentor Rory McGorian, they focused on high-value crops like salads and leafy greens, initially selling to local supermarkets and restaurants, and now manage over 1.5 acres of outdoor production beds while also planting thousands of trees.
In 2019, they transitioned to a no-dig approach inspired by Jean Martin, refining their methods to maximize soil fertility using pony manure and waste materials, producing 80% of their own nutrients. They have maintained the farm as their primary income for nearly ten years and recently planted a syntropic agroforest. Their future plans include expanding orchards and hedgerows, opening a farm shop, and offering courses. Observing a significant return of wildlife, they emphasize that “nature is front and centre in everything we do.”
