Agroforestry Walk, Headford Co. Galway

This silvopastoral system was planted in 2020 under the afforestation programme agroforestry grant Forest Type 8 option. The overall area of this plot is 2.86 ha and trees were planted at a density of 400 trees per hectare. It was planted using 60% Pedunculate oak and 40% additional broadleaves – Downy birch, Cherry, Hazel, English walnut, Beech and Norway maple. Sheep are grazed between the trees. This farm is a good example of a silvopastoral agroforestry system on free draining brown soil in the west of Ireland.

Registration will close as soon as the maximum attendance is reached. Registration here

Attendees are requested to bring appropriate clothing/footwear in case of inclement weather on the day.  Booking is essential as parking is limited.
