Ailbhe Gerrard – Honorary Ambassador for December 2019

We would like to introduce our honorary Ambassador for December, Ailbhe Gerrard of Brookfield Farm in Co.Tipperary. We are delighted to include Ailbhe in our network of Farming For Nature Ambassadors. These individuals have been chosen in acknowledgement of their long-standing commitment and contribution to farming for nature on their land and in their community.

Ailbhe runs a 30 hectare farm on the banks of Lough Derg. She bought the land in 2010 and took on the challenge of turning a neglected farm around to make a living. Today one third of the farm is broadleaf, one third is arable and one third is agri-environment under wild bird cover. She has an organic sheep flock and honey bees which she sells both directly from the farm and online (https://www.brookfield.farm/). Ailbhe shares her passion of farming with others with regular open days and demonstration days. She is a Nuffield Agricultural Scholar and lectures at Gurteen Agricultural College. Everything she does on the farm improves nature. Listen to a 12min-podcast with Ailbhe about her farm here: https://spoti.fi/36sEPx2
