Seánie O’Baoill is a runs a traditional sheep and cattle farm near An Fál Carrach in the Donegal Gaeltacht. He rears 150 Mayo and Connemara ewes and 8 Belted Galloway cows across upland commonage, coastal lowlands, and on Toraigh Island. He has been a phenomenal local leader advocating for proper upland management be added to the green cert and a key figure in helping the results-based Corncrake LIFE project increase the populations of the endangered bird by 35%. He recently was instrumental in bringing an EIP project to the area that focuses on helping farmers on commonage manage it better for nature and for the longevity of upland farming.
