SUMMARY:Climate Camp Ireland 2023
DESCRIPTION:Resistance ● Education ● Coming Together\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe’re excited to invite you to Climate Camp 2023\, which will take place in a big field in North Leitrim from 9th to 13th August. The camp will build on the success of last year’s memorable gathering in North Kerry\, where we supported local resistance to the proposed Shannon LNG fracked gas import terminal. \nContinuing to work in solidarity with local grassroots struggles\, this year we were invited by communities in Leitrim who are resisting destructive gold mining and Coillte forestry. We invite groups and individuals from across the island of Ireland to share skills and strategies to combat these harmful and exploitative industries. \nThe Camp stands against destruction of community\, the exploitation of land\, and the politics of hate. We gather together to say No to a ruthless capitalist model that demands never-ending growth and profit. We stand for communities\, not shareholders. \nMore info here

SUMMARY:Talamh Beo: Lighthouse Farm Network farm walk on Cloughjordan Community Farm
DESCRIPTION:Talamh Beo is building a network of Lighthouse farms in the 46 water catchment area’s of Ireland. From the 1st 16 farms established through the “Soil Biodiversity & Enhancement EIP project” they are growing a network of local farms (hubs)\, where on the farm education around soil biodiversity and its effect on water quality are core elements. Cloughjordan Community Farm and Cloncannon Biofarm are two of the latest farms to join the Talamh Beo Lighthouse Farm Network. \nStarting with the soil is key\, as the diversity of our soils is intricately linked to above ground biodiversity. These Lighthouse Farm experiences will focus on celebrating the diversity of soil and exploring the critical role of soil health in promoting biodiversity\, food sovereignty\, and climate resilience. \nAs we take a leisurely walk through the fields and hedgerows\, we’ll have the opportunity to learn from farmers and local food practitioners about agroecology and biodiversity. Through facilitated conversations and dialogues\, we hope to create a social and celebratory atmosphere that will inspire you to take action to protect and enhance biodiversity on your own farm or in your own community. \nMore info here
